When you use CanIBuildHere, we collect:

• Location data: The coordinates (latitude and longitude) you select on the map. This is required to run the planning data check.
• Project answers: Your selections about project type, size, known issues, and related questions.
• Payment information: Processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details. Stripe may store your email address for payment receipts.
• Usage data: Anonymous event logs (page views, button clicks, check completions) to understand how the service is used. These do not identify you personally.
• IP address: Used only for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Not stored long-term or used for tracking.

Under GDPR, our legal bases for processing are:

• Contract performance (Article 6(1)(b)): We need your location and project answers to deliver the service you requested.
• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): Usage analytics and rate limiting to maintain service quality and prevent abuse.

• Stripe — payment processing. See Stripe's privacy policy
• Supabase — database hosting (EU region). See Supabase's privacy policy
• Vercel — application hosting. See Vercel's privacy policy
• OpenAI — used for follow-up question answers and development plan search. Location context is sent but not personal identifiers. See OpenAI's privacy policy

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for purposes unrelated to delivering the CanIBuildHere service.

• Site check records and reports: Retained indefinitely so you can access your report.
• Usage events: Retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or anonymised.
• IP addresses (rate limiting): Held in memory only; not persisted to the database.

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
